BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Western Kentucky University junior women's basketball player Katie Wulf (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community HS) will be out of action for six to eight weeks after undergoing surgery Sunday morning on her broken right foot. A screw was inserted in her foot during the procedure and she will be on crutches and in a cast for at least one month. Wulf suffered the injury while participating in drills during the Lady Toppers' practice on Saturday.
"This is a terrible setback for the Lady Toppers and Katie Wulf," WKU head coach Steve Small said. "But, her attitude is fantastic and we will be expecting Katie back in uniform and playing again by December 1st."
Wulf, a 6-3 center, averaged 1.3 points and 2.1 rebounds in 31 games for the Lady Toppers last season. She is one of seven returning letterwinners on the Western roster this season.
