July 30th marks roughly 100 days until the 2018-19 season tipoff for the 100th season of WKU Hilltopper Basketball, and over the next 100 days, WKU Athletics will treat fans to unique moments and interesting history from Hilltopper Basketball, all leading up to the start of the season in November.
DAY 50 (September 18) |
Center and All-Century Team member, Chris Marcus, earned All-American honors in both 2001 and 2002. He was named the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2000 and '01 as well as earning the title of Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year in 2001. Marcus also led the nation in rebounding in 2001. |

DAY 49 (September 19) |
As one of five Hilltoppers to notch 1,000+ points and 1,000+ rebounds in his time on The Hill, All-Century Team member Tom Marshall etched his name in WKU history. He was a consensus All-American in 1954 in addition to being a member of the WKU Athletic Hall of Fame with his WKU jersey retired to the rafters. He was one of the first two players in school history to average doubles figures in both scoring and rebounding, achieving those heights with teammate Art Spoelstra in 1954. He is still the all-time leading rebounder in WKU history with 1,565 boards. |

DAY 48 (September 20) |
All-Century Team member and Co-Captain Jim McDaniels led the 1969-70 Hilltoppers to a victory over Dayton on February 23. WKU then moved up No. 12 on the Associated Press Poll, the highest position it held in three years. McDaniels earned All-American honors in every year of his varsity career, including a Consensus All-American title in 1971. He was the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year in both '70 and '71. In WKU History, he is tied with All-Century Co-Captain Courtney Lee for the career scoring record and is one of five players to ever notch 1,000+ points and 1,000+ rebounds. |

DAY 47 (September 21) |
Former WKU Coach and All-Century Team member, John Oldham, gave a speech after returning from the NIT in 1949. Oldham was named an All-American in 1949. His WKU jersey is retired and he is a member of the WKU Athletic Hall of Fame. In 1949, he was a part of the All-Ohio Valley Conference Team after the inaugural season of the league. The court inside E.A. Diddle Arena was named after Oldham on December 27, 2012, the day of the 2,500th men's basketball game in WKU history. |

DAY 46 (September 22) |
Bobby Rascoe, All-Century Team member, holds the Sugar Bowl MVP trophy from December 1959. After defeating Mississippi State and Tulane in New Orleans, the Hilltoppers were ranked 18th in the Associated Press Poll. They finished the season as the Ohio Valley Conference Champion and reached the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament. Rascoe helped lead the team that season, averaging 16.8 points per game. By the end of his career as a Hilltopper, Rascoe was named an All-American in 1962 and had his jersey retired. He is a member of the WKU Athletic Hall of Fame and is currently 10th on WKU's all-time leading scorer list. |

DAY 45 (September 23) |
Dwight Smith goes up to the basket at the NIT in Madison Square Garden in 1965. The All-Century Team member was honored as All-Ohio Valley Conference in 1965, '66 and '67. Smith was the top rebounding guard in NCAA DI basketball during his career on The Hill and was inducted into the WKU Athletic Hall of Fame. He was drafted as the 23rd overall pick in the 1967 NBA Draft. Smith died in an automobile accident that May. |

DAY 44 (September 24) |
All-Century Team member and center, Art Spoelstra, goes up for a hook shot during the first round of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament in Louisville in 1954. WKU defeated Morehead State 97-79 to advance to the championship game against Eastern Kentucky, winning 85-69. The 1953-54 Hilltoppers went on to finish fourth in the NIT, ranking as high as third in the Associated Press Poll. Spoelstra is a member of the WKU Athletic Hall of Fame and was honored as an All-American in 1953. He is one of only five players in WKU history to score 1,000+ points and notch 1,000+ rebounds. Spoelstra and teammate Tom Marshall both averaged double figures in scoring and rebounding in 1954, becoming the first two players in school history to do so. |

DAY 43 (September 25) |
Carlisle "Big Boy" Towery was the first WKU athlete to earn All-American honors in multiple years, receiving the accolade in 1940 and 1941. He was the first player in Hilltopper Basketball history to score 1,000+ points. His WKU jersey is retired to the rafters and he is in the WKU Athletic Hall of Fame along with 12 of his All-Century Team teammates. |

DAY 42 (September 26) |
Jeremy Evans goes up for a shot in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in 2008. WKU defeated No. 14 Drake in the opening round, 101-99 in overtime. After defeating San Diego 72-63 in the second round, the Hilltoppers advanced to the Sweet 16 where they fell to the No. 3 UCLA Bruins, 88-78. Evans is still the all-time WKU leader in career field goal percentage and blocks. |
