Paul Just first joined the WKU staff in 1966 as a student assistant and went on to serve in the university’s communications department for over 50 years in various positions. Just currently serves as the SID Emeritus – Historian. In this role, Just assists with any historical data that might be requested in the office as well as any other requested activities.
A graduate of WKU, Just earned a bachelor in history with a minor in geography and government. While earning a masters in education, Just served as a graduate assistant in the office of public relations for athletics. In 1971, Just was promoted to a staff assistant position where he worked for seven years before taking the role of Sports Information Director for WKU in 1978. Just worked in this role for 24 years before retiring to his current role with the department.
Throughout his career, Just earned a multitude of awards for his service to the university and the profession including an honorary membership to the Alumni W-Club, where they named an award after him for loyalty and dedicated support. The media room in E.A. Diddle Arena was named the “Paul Just Media Center” in 2013 and in 2015, Just was inducted into the CoSIDA Hall of Fame, a high award given to those who have made outstanding contributions to the field of college sports information.
Just is a Greenville, Kentucky native who lives with his wife Tricia. They have two children, a daughter, Sara and son, Trey, who are also WKU Alumni.
