John McCammon joined WKU's senior athletic department staff in 2014 and was named Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Student Affairs in 2021.
McCammon leads WKU's compliance office – including overseeing player eligibility and compliance with NCAA and conference rules and regulations – as well as coordinating program's needs to the Student Athlete Success Center and NIL efforts.
He serves as sport administrator of the men's and women's track and field and cross country programs, as well as women's tennis, with previous oversight of the women's volleyball and baseball programs. He served in a leading role in the hiring processes for the Head Baseball Coach Marc Rardin and the Director of Cross Country/Track & Field Lee Wood.
McCammon came to WKU after two-and-a-half years at Middle Tennessee State University and previously spent three years at the University of Alabama and nearly three years at the University of Mississippi.
While at Middle Tennessee, McCammon oversaw all day-to-day activities regarding NCAA Compliance for financial aid, awards and benefits and playing and practice sessions for all 17 Blue Raider sports, and he provided assistance to the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance in rules violations, self-reports, waivers, hardships and rules interpretations. He also had sport oversight responsibilities for multiple sports.
During his three-plus years at Alabama from 2008-11, McCammon oversaw compliance-related activities regarding recruiting and playing and practice seasons, and he assisted with all other aspects of NCAA Compliance. McCammon worked with baseball, women's basketball, men's and women's golf, rifle and women's soccer from a compliance standpoint while at Ole Miss from 2005-08, and he also educated prospective student-athletes at camps and clinics regarding academics, drug testing, agents and gambling.
A native of Farmersburg, Ind., McCammon graduated from Harding University in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in sports management, and he earned his master's degree in sports management from the University of Kentucky in 2004.
McCammon and his wife, Katie, reside in Bowling Green and have two sons, Levi and Dalton.
