2014-15 (SOPHOMORE): Saw action in 34 of 35 games off the WKU bench... Averaged 4.3 points and 2.8 rebounds while shooting 53.4 percent from the field... Had 16 blocks on the season... Opened season with a season-best 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting against Central Arkansas in the opening round of the 2014 Preseason Women's NIT on Nov. 14, 2014... Had 12 points and seven rebounds vs. Alabama A&M in 11 minutes on Dec. 1, 2014... Had 12 points and 11 rebounds, her only double-double of the season, on Dec. 6, 2014 against Alabama State... Had 17 points in 12 minutes on 8-of-9 shooting against North Texas in Denton on Feb. 5, 2015... Had at least six points in four of the final seven games of the season, including eight points in 16 minutes vs. FIU on Feb. 28 and six in the Conference USA title game win over Southern Miss on March 14, 2015... Scoreless in 11 minutes against Texas in the NCAA Tournament with two rebounds.
2013-14 (FRESHMAN): Saw action in 33 games with 2 starts... Averaged 5.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game for the season, including 6.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per contest in league play... Made a major impact on the offensive end of the floor late in the second, scoring 73 points in 119 minutes of play during WKU's final eight games of the season, including four double figure scoring games... Highlight of season was a 21 points, 10 rebound performance at Georgia State on March 8, 2014. Did all of this in just 20 minutes on the court... Started to blossom early in the season during a three-game stretch against Jackson State, Belmont and Georgetown in mid-December. Had 15 points and 12 rebounds, her first career game in double figures in either category, against Jackson State on Dec. 15, 2013. Followed that up with four points against Belmont before playing 36 minutes against Georgetown, scoring 10 points and grabbing 12 rebounds against a large Hoyas post presence. Her basket with 14.1 seconds remaining in the game were part of a seven point flurry in the final 14.1 seconds that helped WKU erase a late deficit and cap a 16-point rally to win in the Puerto Rico Classic in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
HIGH SCHOOL: Was named the Northwest Indiana Times Illinois Girls Basketball Player of the Year in both her junior and senior seasons... As a senior, averaged 23.7 points and 16.9 rebounds per game, posting a double-double in all but one game... For her career, Gaines scored 1,593 points and grabbed 879 rebounds... Was also named an All-State, All-Area and All-Conference selection as a senior... Named the Beggars Pizza/Southtown Star Player of the Year following impressive senior campaign... Took home MVP honors of the Hillcrest Tournament... As a junior, posted 27.3 points, 16.5 rebounds and 3.8 blocks per game at Bloom Township High where the team finished 16-9... Earned Second Team All-State honors from the Chicago Tribune, First Team All-Conference honors and was selected to the Chicago Sun-Times All-Area Team as a junior... Was a four-year letterwinner in basketball but also played volleyball.
