JUNIOR (2021-22): Played in all 32 contests for the Hilltoppers, starting in 28 of those games… Was the tallest player in Division I men’s basketball for the season… Averaged 28.0 minutes and 8.2 points while shooting 72.6% from the floor… Averaged 7.6 rebounds and 4.62 blocks per game, leading the country in the latter category… Tallied 148 total blocks on the season, shattering WKU’s previous single-season record of 97… Was third in the league in rebounds per game and first in total blocks and blocks per game… Recorded a triple-double with 10 points, 12 rebounds and 10 blocks against Alabama A&M on Nov. 24, marking the third-ever triple-double in program history and the first with blocks… Was the 18th triple-double with blocks in Division I men’s basketball since 2010 and the first since 2019… Also broke the WKU single-game record for blocks with 10… Had a career-high 17 points and 14 rebounds against Eastern Kentucky on Dec. 4, one of his four double-doubles of the season… Named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year… Named C-USA All-Defensive Team… Named C-USA Player of the Week on March 7… Named C-USA Honorable Mention All-Conference… Honored as semi-finalist for the Naismith National Defensive Player of the Year award… Selected as finalist for Lefty Driesell Defensive Player of the Year
JOHN A.
