Senior (2025-26): Played in 32 games with 25 starts … Averaged 13.0 points and 4.5 rebounds in 25.8 minutes per game while shooting 39.9% from the field, 35.8% from 3-point range, and 76.1% from the free throw line … Reached double figures in 24 contests, including five 20-point performances … Elevated his play during the final nine games of the season, averaging 17.8 points and 5.1 rebounds, while shooting an efficient 50.0% from the field, 43.1% from 3-point range and 82.6% at the free throw line … Scored 23 points on 8-of-15 shooting and 5-of-8 from 3-point range in an 80-70 win over FIU (2/7) … Had 20 points on 7-of-11 from the field and 4-of-7 from long range to go along with seven rebounds in an 82-80 win over Middle Tennessee (2/14) … Scored 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting and 6-of-6 from the free throw line while grabbing eight rebounds in a 94-73 win at Conference USA regular-season champion Liberty (2/21) … Had 25 points on 8-of-13 from the field, 4-of-8 from 3-point range and 5-of-6 at the stripe, while also recording seven rebounds in a 97-65 win over UTEP (2/28) … Also scored his 1,000th career point in the win over UTEP (2/28) … All-Conference USA Honorable Mention … College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
North Texas (2024-25): Played in and started all 36 games … Averaged 6.2 points and 3.6 rebounds per game … Scored a season-high 14 points versus UTSA (2/1) and was a perfect 6-6 from the floor …Had a season-high nine rebounds against UAB in the semifinals of the AAC Tournament … Was third on the team in total rebounds (129) and second in offensive rebounds (58) … Made 20 3-pointers on the year and shot 33.3% from deep … Scored in double figures six times … Scored 12 points versus (RV) Utah State (11/29) … Had a season-high three steals in a win over Northern Iowa (11/28) … Had two blocks in UNT's win over Arkansas State in the second round of the NIT … UNT was undefeated when Newell played 30+ minutes.
California (2022-24): Played in all 32 games and made 11 starts in 2023-24 … Averaged 5.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game … Shot 41.3% from the floor, made 21 3-pointers and shot 30.4% from deep … Played in 31 games and made 28 starts in 2022-23 … Averaged 8.0 points and 3.9 rebounds per game … Pac-12 All-Freshman Team Honorable Mention … Received a all-freshman team vote from three Pac-12 head coaches … Posted two double-doubles on the year becoming the first Cal freshman since Jaylen Brown in 2015-16 with multiple double-doubles in a single season … Named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week on Dec. 25 after having nine points and three assists in a win over UT Arlington on (12/21).
