Darryl Jackson enters his fourth season as an assistant coach at WKU in 2026-27. He oversees the program’s operations, academics and player development, in addition to his coaching duties.
Jackson was recognized by VIP Bowling Green Magazine as a member of its 40 Under 40 class, honoring young professionals who are making an impact in the Bowling Green community and their respective fields. Since arriving on The Hill, he has played an integral role in the development of Hilltopper student-athletes on the court and in the classroom.
During the 2025-26 academic year, WKU Men’s Basketball earned the Conference USA Sport Academic Award after posting the league’s highest team GPA in the sport at 3.27. Fourteen members of the 2025-26 roster were named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll, while the program also received the National Association of Basketball Coaches’ Team Academic Excellence Award. Thirteen student-athletes recorded individual GPAs of 3.0 or better, and seven Hilltoppers earned NABC Honors Court recognition.
Before heading to The Hill, Jackson was an Assistant Coach at Weatherford College in Weatherford, Texas, for the 2022-23 season. The Coyotes went 23-8, totaling the program’s most wins in 15 years.
Weatherford had two all-conference and all-region honorees, with an additional two honorees on both the second team and honorable mention lists.
Prior to Weatherford, Jackson spent a season at Garden City Community College in Kansas, where he aided the program to a 22-10 record during the 2021-22 season. He also coached and developed Mohamed Diarra, an NJCAA All-American.
Jackson spent two seasons as a Graduate Assistant at Detroit Mercy, in addition to a season as an assistant coach at Navarro College and with the NBL Canada team Windsor Express.
A native of Detroit, Jackson earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from Valparaiso and his MBA from Detroit Mercy.
