Bob Hubbard enters his second season on the WKU staff as Academic Coordinator in 2017-18.

Hubbard will advise the Hilltopper basketball student-athletes through their day-to-day academic responsibilities, as well as manage and assist with their academic progress and post-graduation aspirations.

Hubbard brings a wealth of basketball experience to his position and has been coaching professionally since 1976, most recently as an assistant coach at Auburn University at Montgomery from 2012-15.

He was previously the head coach at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas for the 2000-01 season, leading the program to a 29-3 record, a national ranking as high as 11th and a state championship game berth. The team featured current NBA player C.J. Watson, who is now a member of the Orlando Magic.

Originally from Rochester, N.Y., Hubbard began his coaching career as the head coach at Wheatland-Chili High School in Scottsville, N.Y. There, he took over a 4-15 team and led them to a 54-28 record from 1976-1980. He was named the 1979-80 Region Coach of the Year after the Wildcats became Genesee Region Champions.

In 1980, Hubbard began the first of two seasons as assistant coach at the Rochester Institute of Technology, a Division III program located in his hometown. He then moved to work as a graduate assistant coach under head coach Wimp Sanderson at the University of Alabama.

After two successful years with the Crimson Tide, including a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances, Hubbard received a full-time assistant coaching opportunity at the University of South Alabama. He stayed with the Jaguars through the 1987-88 season.

Hubbard received an associate degree in liberal arts from Orange Coast College in 1971, and he also holds a bachelor's in health education/health science from Long Beach State University.

In addition to his basketball expertise, Hubbard has extensive experience working as a golf instructor. During his assistant coaching days at South Alabama, he also worked as the head golf coach for the Jaguars. In 1987, Hubbard earned Sun Belt Coach of the Year honors, and he has worked as an instructor for a wide variety of golf schools in recent years.

His family includes his wife, Rosalyn; son, Brandon Hubbard; daughter-in-law, Joi Hubbard; stepson, Nicolas Swicord; and stepdaughter, Rebekah Swicord.
