2024 (r-So.) | 13/11: Veltkamp appeared in 13 games during the 2024 season and became the team's starter after during the Sept. 21 game against Toledo after an injury to TJ Finley. Veltkamp finished the year with 3,108 yards on 258-389-10 passing with 25 touchdowns. He was also the team's third-leading rusher with 150 yards and seven scores on 113 attempts. He threw for multiple touchdowns eight times in 11 games as the team's starting quarterback, threw for over 300 yards three times and rushed for multiple touchdowns in a game twice. In his first significant action since being named the 2023 Famous Toastery Bowl Offensive MVP, Veltkamp came on in relief of Finley in the Sept. 14 game at Middle Tennessee and threw for 398 yards and five touchdowns on 27-of-30 passing. Following the game he was named to the Davey O'Brien Great 8 list, the CUSA Offensive Player of the week and a Manning Star of the Week. The 398 yards and five touchdown were season highs. Veltkamp was also named the CUSA Offensive Player of the Week after the Oct. 16 win at Sam Houston, when he threw for 281 yards and three touchdowns on 20-29-0 passing and rushed for an additional touchdown. Veltkamp was third in CUSA in total offense (250.62), second in passing average per game (239.1), second in pass efficiency (149.5), third in total offensive plays (502), first in total offensive touchdowns (32), first in passing yards (3,108), second in pass attempts (389), fourth in passing yards per completion (12.05), second in pass completions (258), third in passing yards per attempt (7.99), first in passing touchdowns (25) and first in pass completion percentage (66.32). He was one of two players in CUSA in 2024 to be responsible for six touchdowns in a single game, and his 398 yards against Middle Tennessee were second-most in a single game by a CUSA player in 2024. Veltkamp's five passing touchdowns at Middle Tennessee were tied for most in a game by a CUSA player during the season, and his 28 completions in the Nov. 30 game against Jax State were tied for second-most in a game by a CUSA player. He was one of two players in CUSA with three 300-yard passing games in 2024. Veltkamp's completion percentage ranked 20th nationally, his passing efficiency was 24th nationally, his total passing touchdowns were 20th nationally, his passing yards were 23rd nationally and his passing yards per game were 35th nationally. His points responsible for total and average ranked 20th and 21st nationally, respectively. Veltkamp was the 2024 CUSA Offensive Player of the Year, becoming the first in program history to win the award. He was an All-CUSA Second Team Offense (QB) selection, a Phil Steele Postseason CUSA All-Conference Second Team (QB) pick and he was named to the Davey O'Brien QB Class of 2024.
2023 (r-Fr.) | 3/0: Veltkamp appeared in three games in his second season at WKU. He starred in WKU's comeback in the 38-35 overtime victory against Old Dominion in the Famous Toastery Bowl – the fourth-largest comeback ever in a bowl game – and was named the game's Offensive MVP. After coming on in relief at quarterback, he led the Hilltoppers back from a 28-point deficit by throwing for 383 yards and five touchdowns on 40-of-52 passing and rushing for an additional 53 yards on 19 attempts in his first significant action at the college level. His 436 yards in the Famous Toastery Bowl were the second-most by a Conference USA player during the 2023 season, his 52 passing attempts and his five touchdowns were tied for the most in a single game, and his 40 completions were the most in a game. His 383 passing yards were fourth-most in a single game in CUSA in 2023. Veltkamp saw limited action in WKU's Sept. 16 game at No. 6/4 Ohio State, and again during the second half in the regular-season finale at FIU on Nov. 25, when he threw for 4 yards on 1-of-2 passing and rushed for 23 yards on four attempts.
2022 (Fr.) | 1/0: Veltkamp appeared in one game during his freshman season on The Hill. In WKU's 73-0 victory over South Alabama, he completed all four of his pass attempts for 25 yards. Veltkamp will retain his freshman year of eligibility with a redshirt.
HS/Misc.: Veltkamp attended South Warren High School, where he compiled 2,733 passing yards and 31 touchdowns while leading his team to a 14-1 record. Rated as a three-star prospect by ESPN, Rivals and 247Sports. Received an 87 composite score from 247Sports, which ranked seventh in the state of Kentucky. Chose WKU over others such as Akron, Appalachian State, Indiana State, Miami (OH) and Kentucky.
