Before WKU: Newsome spent two seasons at West Florida before his arrival at WKU. The defensive back appeared in 20 games with the Argonauts, including 12 during his final season with the program. In 2025, Newsome recorded 25 total tackles, a forced fumble, two interceptions and five pass breakups. He also returned 29 punts for 226 yards and a touchdown. He was named Second Team Gulf South Conference following the season, and was named GSC Defensive Player of the Week and GSC Special Teams Player of the Week during the 2025 season. In 2024, Newsome had seven tackles, one tackle for loss and three pass breakups, while also posting 134 yards on six kick returns. Newsome spent his first season of college football at Los Angeles Valley College, where he appeared in 10 games and recorded 33 total tackles, two tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, three interceptions, four pass breakups and a blocked kick.
