2016 (So.) | 14/9: After earning the primary placekicker job, Simcox went on to solidify himself as WKU's kicker of the future, going 16-of-22 in field goals and 70-of-71 in PATs. His 118 points were second-most on the team. With a 50-yard kick against Houston Baptist and 52-yard kick against Middle Tennessee, he became the third kicker in WKU history with two 50-yard kicks in a career and just the second to do it in a single season. He was 2-for-2 from 50 yards or greater, and 10-of-11 on kicks inside 40 yards. His 16 made field goals tied for fourth-most in a season, also an FBS record (Garrett Schwettman, 2014). Simcox's 118 points also tied Schwettman's 2014 mark for the second-most points score by a kicker in a single season.
Before WKU: Skyler Simcox came to WKU after spending a season at Emory & Henry College in Emory, Virginia, at the Division III level. He handled the kicking duties in 10 games for the Wasps, earning All-ODAC first team and All-Region third team by D3football.com honors. Simcox hit nine of his 11 field goals in 2015, while led the ODAC, as he paced Emory & Henry in scoring with 65. He also made 38 of 40 extra points in his debut campaign. The Abingdon, Virginia, native prepped at Abingdon High School, where he tallied 57 points for the Falcons and made 39 of 41 extra points.
