2019 (r-Sr.) | 12/5: Howell started in five games and appeared in 12 total in his final season on The Hill, playing 158 snaps primarily as a sixth offensive lineman or blocking tight end. In his last seven games in a WKU uniform, he played 144 snaps total. Overall, his pass blocking grade of 65.7 matched his rating from the previous year.
2018 (r-Jr.) | 10/9: Howell started in nine games and appeared in 10 total, playing 439 snaps as a redshirt junior. He saw increased playing time at left tackle in the eight contests after 2018 starter Cole Spencer went down with a season-ending injury.
2017 (r-So.) | 13/0: Howell played in every game on the Hilltopper offensive line, seeing time primarily as a reserve left tackle behind Jimmie Sims.
2016 (r-Fr.) | 5/0: Howell appeared in five games as a reserve offensive tackle for the Hilltoppers, appearing for the first time in the Red and White at No. 1 Alabama. Howell also saw time against Houston Baptist, Old Dominion, North Texas and at Marshall.
2015 (Fr.): Howell redshirted his first season on The Hill.
HS/Misc.: Howell was a two-way player, both at offensive tackle and defensive end, for CPA in Nashville under coach Ingle Martin. Howell helped lead CPA in the trenches to a perfect 15-0 record and the TSSAA Class 3A Championship and was named the TSSAA Class AA Mr. Football Lineman of the Year. He registered 74 knockdown blocks and added 22 tackles with four tackles for loss and three sacks on defense. Behind his line, CPA rushed for 3,139 yards on the season with 48 touchdowns, and Howell kept a clean pocket, allowing for quarterbacks to throw for 2,036 yards, 32 touchdowns to just four interceptions, scoring 41.5 points per game. Howell was rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports.com and the No. 38 prospect overall in the state.
