Before WKU: Smith joined WKU from Florida A&M, where he appeared in 16 games over the 2023 and 2024 seasons for the Rattlers, mainly kicking off. He attempted 88 kickoffs for 5,310 yards – an average of 60.3 yards per attempt – with 37 touchbacks. That included 76 attempts during the 2023 season, when he averaged 59.8 yards per kickoff and had 28 touchbacks. Smith attempted and made one field goal during his time at Florida A&M – a 49-yard attempt at then-No. 12 Miami.
