Before WKU: Thompson arrived at WKU after spending the last four seasons at SEMO, where he appeared in 35 games and recorded 71 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, a pair of sacks, three pass breakups and a forced fumble. His best season came in his final with the Redhawks in 2025, when he posted 44 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, the three passes defended and the one forced fumble.
HS/Misc.: Thompson prepped at Kennett High School in Missouri, where he was the winner of the Derland Moore Award, which is given to the top defensive player in the SEMO Conference, as well as the SEMO Ball Defensive Player of the Year Award. He ended his 2021 campaign at Kennett with 128 tackles, 45 tackles for loss, 18 sacks, four forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, nine pass breakups, an interception and a defensive touchdown. He was a First Team All-SEMO Conference selection and received Second Team Class 3 All-State honors.
