2020 (Fr.): McNamara was a member of WKU's practice squad and did not appear in a game in his first season on The Hill. He will retain his freshman year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Before WKU: Originally from Reno, Nev., McNamara started for the Damonte Ranch High School during his sophomore and junior years, helping lead the Mustangs to a combined 23-3 record. As a junior, was named First Team All-Nevada with 59 catches, 1,060 for yards and 19 touchdowns. Prior to his senior year, McNamara's family moved to Franklin, Tenn., where he attended Lipscomb Academy. Two months after arriving, he was named a captain by his new teammates. Earned First Team All Tennessee and was named Tennessee Middle Region Offensive Player of the Year after accumulating 1,426 total yards on 90 touches and 14 touchdowns. His head coach – former NFL quarterback Trent Dilfer – was quoted publicly that: “Kyle McNamara is the toughest player I’ve ever been around.”
