2016 (r-Fr.) | 14/1: Johnson came out of his redshirt year as a key contributor on special teams and as a defensive reserve, playing in all 14 games with one start, the first of his career, coming at Middle Tennessee. Johnson tallied 18 tackles including a season-high five at No. 1 Alabama. Johnson record at least one tackle in eight of his 14 appearances and multiple tackles in five games.

HS/Misc.: Johnson was a two-way star at wide receiver and safety for Pahokee High and coach Darren Hill. His productive senior season earned him an invitation to the Florida-Georgia All-Star game. Johnson was rated No. 21 on the ESPN West Palm Top 63 ranking. Johnson picked up Defensive MVP honors in the Florida-Georgia game and was voted a 2014 Sun-Sentinel First Team All-County member and 2014 Palm Beach County All-Star. Johnson was rated the No. 186 athlete in the nation by 247Sports.com.
