Before WKU: Nickelson played for head coach Ryan Mahon at Blinn Junior College, leading the Buccaneers to a 7-4 record. He was named to the All-Conference First Team following his 2018 season at Blinn College in Texas. Previously, Nickelson played for coach Craig Dailey at Cedar Springs High School and was named All-District 24-6A First Team. Rated as a two-star with a 77 composite score by 247Sports, ranking 21st overall in the state and 43rd nationally as an offensive tackle.
