2023 (Jr.) | 6/6: Evans started all six games he played in before suffering a season-ending injury during WKU's 35-28 win at Louisiana Tech on Oct. 5. In the six games he appeared, Evans totaled 30 tackles, with one for loss and one sack. He forced a fumble and recovered two, including a 27-yard return for a touchdown in the first game of the season against South Florida, and had one pass breakup and one quarterback hurry. He had a season-high nine tackles during WKU's 31-10 win over rival Middle Tennessee on Sept. 28. Evans was the 2023 Conference USA Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, in addition to numerous watch list honors.
2022 (So.) | 14/14: Evans started all 14 games for the Hilltoppers on the season, leading the charge to the team's R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl Championship. Evans was WKU's leading tackler for the year with 106 takedowns, including 14 tackles for loss and nine sacks. The sophomore linebacker also broke up four passes, hurried the quarterback eight times and recovered two fumbles. In WKU's bowl-clinching victory against Rice, Evans returned a fumble for a touchdown, one of the WKU defense's six touchdowns on the season, which leads all of college football. Evans and the Hilltopper defense also forced 32 turnovers on the season, which was the best mark in the country. He hit double-digit tackles on three games throughout the year, his season-high being 15 against North Texas. Evans was named to C-USA's First Team at season's end for his big year.
2021 (Fr.) | 14/0: In his second season as a freshman due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Evans played in all 14 of WKU's games in 2021. He totaled 44 tackles on the year, including four for loss and two sacks. He recorded a season high six tackles in wins against Middle Tennessee and Marshall. His two sacks both came in the team's victory over Florida Atlantic in the home finale. Evans' other two tackles for loss took place in a home win versus Charlotte.
2020 (Fr.) | 7/0: Evans played in seven games in his first season on The Hill, primarily on special teams units. Recorded two assisted tackles at Charlotte on Dec. 6 and a 10-yard kickoff return on a pooch kick in the LendingTree Bowl vs. Georgia State. He will retain his freshman year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
HS/Misc.: Nickname is "Donut" given to him by his youth league coach. Evans rushed for 2,531 yards on 262 carries (9.7 yards per rush) and scored 42 total touchdowns, leading the Irish to a Class 2A State Title, their first since 2006. Named Georgia Class 2A Offensive Player of the Year by the Associated Press. Listed as a MaxPreps Small Schools Second Team All-American. Also serves as the punter and kickoff specialist for the Irish. Rated as a three-star recruit with an 87 overall composite score by 247Sports, ranking 697th in the country among all players, 40th nationally among “athletes” and 70th in the state. Chose WKU over others such as Arizona State, Miami, Tennessee and USF.
