2018 (r-Sr.) | 12/12: Sayner returned from his 2017 to have a monster 2018 season in the trenches for the Hilltoppers where he started all 12 games at defensive tackle. Sayner led all defensive tackles with four quarterback hurries and his 20 total tackles ranked second among the position group. He also added a pair of tackles for loss while forcing and recovering one fumble.
2017 (r-Jr.) | 6/6: Sayner started the first six games of the season at defensive tackle, but missed the remainder of the season due to an injury he suffered on Oct. 14 vs. Charlotte. He recorded 18 tackles (three solo, 15 assisted), including 3.5 tackles for loss and a sack, which came on Sept. 23 vs. Ball State. He had a career-high five tackles against the Cardinals, and put up multiple takedowns in each of the first five games. He also had 1.5 tackles for loss on Sept. 9 at Illinois and another on Oct. 7 at UTEP.
2016 (r-So.) | 14/0: Sayner appeared in all 14 games, contributing on both punt protection teams as well as a reserve defensive tackle. Sayner tallied nine tackles (three solo) and one tackle for loss against FIU. Sayner had a career day with four tackles against Houston Baptist and had a pair of tackles against FIU.
2015 (r-Fr.) | 5/0: Sayner saw time in five games, primarily as a reserve defensive tackle. He recorded his first career tackle at Rice and added his other tackle at North Texas, an assisted tackle. Sayner also broke up one pass at North Texas.
2014 (Fr.): Sayner appeared in the season opener against Bowling Green but sat out the rest of the season due to injury. He was able to receive a medical hardship waiver for this season.
HS/Misc.: Sayner joined WKU after a stellar career at McCracken County High School where he played for coach Orville Haskins. Sayner earned Courier-Journal second-team All-State honors and was a first-team All-Western Kentucky Conference honoree as well as a first-time All-District player. The Associated Press also named Sayner to its honorable mention All-State team. Scout.com rated Sayner as the No. 11 prospect in Kentucky and a two-star player while 247Sports.com and Rivals.com each had him as a two-star prospect.
