2017 (r-Jr.) | 8/0: Eckels saw action in eight games and completed 8-of-11 pass attempts for 86 yards. The majority of his numbers came on Oct. 14 vs. Charlotte, when he went 7-of-8 for 80 yards in the fourth quarter of the 45-14 win. He had a season-long pass of 35 yards to Kyle Fourtenbary against the 49ers. He appeared in other games as a change-of-pace option at quarterback, rushing 12 times for 27 yards, including a career-long of 11 on Oct. 20 at Old Dominion.
2016 (r-So.) | 8/0: Eckels saw action in eight games and completed 6-of-12 pass attempts for 118 yards. He threw his first collegiate touchdown pass at No. 1 Alabama, a 24-yard pass to Lucky Jackson in the fourth quarter. He added a second touchdown pass at Florida Atlantic, a three-yard toss to Quin Jernighan.
2015 (r-Fr.) | 1/0: Eckels got his first collegiate action in the fourth quarter of the North Texas game, completing his only pass attempt for 10 yards to Nacarius Fant on third down. Two plays prior, Eckels’ first collegiate play, he scrambled for four yards before laying into a defender, resulting in a shoulder injury that would require surgery and sideline him the rest of the season.
2014 (Fr.): Eckels redshirted his first season on The Hill.
HS/Misc.: Eckels prepped at Warner Christian Academy for coach Steve Allen where he threw for 2,027 yards and 27 touchdowns as a senior and finished with a 20-4 record over his two seasons as a starter. ESPN’s Recruiting Nation rated Eckels a three-star recruit and the No. 61 pro-style quarterback in the 2014 class. He was a two-star recruit by 24/7 Sports and ranked as the No. 104 pro-style quarterback in the country.
