HS/Misc.: Wharton played for head coach Steve Lovelace at Christian County High School in his prep days. The safety starred mostly on defense for the Colonels but also helped out in the return game. He was rated a two-star prospect by both 247Sports.com and Scout, while also being touted as the 15th-best prospect in the state of Kentucky by Scout.
