2021 (r-So.) | 13/10: Bishop played in 13 of WKU's 14 games and made 10 starts in the defensive backfield. Bishop was a ball hawk all year for the Tops, intercepting three passes and collecting 72 return yards while also totaling an additional four pass breakups. Bishop tallied 43 tackles from his DB position and forced one fumble on the season. The Louisville native also played a key role on special teams, returning 28 kickoffs for 676 yards. Bishop was voted All-Conference USA First Team at seasons end, and earned C-USA Defensive Player of the Week against Middle Tennessee after intercepting two passes and returning one for a touchdown.
2020 (r-So.) | 6/1: Bishop appeared in six games on the season and started one, on Nov. 7 at Florida Atlantic. Had 15 total tackles (14 solo, one assisted) and at least two in 4-of-6 contests, including a career-high five on Oct. 31 at #10/11 BYU. Racked up four pass breakups, with one in four consecutive games during the campaign. Returned four kickoffs for 123 yards in the LendingTree Bowl vs. Georgia State, including a 42 yarder, which was the Hilltoppers' longest kick return of the season. He will retain his redshirt sophomore year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
2019 (r-Fr.) | 13/0: Bishop appeared in all 13 games for the Hilltoppers, recording 17 tackles and one pass breakup. He had multiple tackles in six games, including a career-high four on Sept. 14 vs. Louisville. His pass breakup came on Nov. 23 at Southern Miss.
2018 (Fr.) | 4/0: Bishop appeared in four games and redshirted his first season on The Hill. He recorded one reception on Nov. 24 at Louisiana Tech and one tackle on Nov. 17 vs. UTEP.
HS/Misc.: Shannon “Beanie” Bishop played for head coach Tommy Williams at Pleasure Ridge Park HS and was a team captain. He was named the Greater Louisville Offensive Player of the Game at the 2017 Best of the Bluegrass All-Star Game, while earning Class 6A All-District 3 honors at wide receiver, defensive back and special teams returner. As a junior, he recorded 38 tackles with two interceptions on defense, while making 24 catches for 697 yards and seven touchdowns as a wide receiver. He ran an unofficial 4.29 time in the 40-yard dash at a WKU Football camp and was rated as a two-star with a 79 composite score by 247Sports, ranking 19th overall in the state and 198th nationally at his position.
