2017 (RS Freshman): After working his way back from Tommy John surgery in approximately 11 months, Bruner made three starts for WKU before unfortunately suffering another season-ending injury vs. Murray State on April 4 ... Needed only 10 pitches to complete 1.1 scoreless frames against the Racers, a game in which WKU won 10-9 on a walk-off sacrifice fly by Tyler Robertson in the bottom of the ninth ... Caught Louisville infielder Drew Ellis looking on a 3-2 pitch March 28 for his lone strikeout of the year.
2016 (Freshman): Bruner was a regular out of the bullpen for the Tops in his freshman campaign before suffering a season-ending injury on the mound against Austin Peay on March 22 ... He finished his debut season with seven appearances and nine total innings pitched ... In the victory against South Alabama, Bruner entered in the ninth inning and got the first two outs before giving the ball to Jackson Sowell for the final out ... He pitched his longest outing (3.0 IP) at Jacksonville State on March 5 and also tossed 2.2 innings in Game 2 against Albany.
At Logan County HS: Bruner was named the 2015 Kentucky Gatorade Player of the Year after finishing his season on the mound 7-2 with 105 strikeouts and a 1.34 ERA ... He was also a significant offensive force for Logan County as he batted .370 with 31 RBI and four home runs to go along with a slugging percentage of .529 ... As a junior in 2014, the right-handed throwing Bruner was tabbed as the Region 4 Player of the Year and an All-State selection after going 9-2 with 111 strikeouts and a 1.13 ERA in over 74 innings of work ... During his final 140 innings in a Logan County uniform, Bruner tallied 216 strikeouts in 140 innings while earning 16 victories for the Cougars.
