WKU LICENSE PLATE FAQS
AVAILABLE IN KENTUCKY COUNTY CLERKS OFFICES
Customers wanting to switch to the new (red) WKU plate design at the time of their annual renewal will pay a $56 registration fee. While waiting for the new (red) personalized plate to be made, the current (white) plate will be renewed. It can take approximately 4 weeks to have a personalized plate remade.
Customers must turn in their current (white) WKU plate to their County Clerk before receiving the new plate. There will be an additional $6 decal replacement fee at this time.

For those wanting to purchase a WKU plate for the first time, the cost is $56. Plates are available in local County Clerk’s offices or online at drive.ky.gov.
A personalized WKU plate costs $81. Personalized plate requests must be made online at drive.ky.gov.
