Clear Bag Policy Frequently Asked Questions

In the interest of enhancing security measures at WKU Football games, a security policy will be implemented to regulate the size and type of bag that may be carried into Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium. The policy has been in place since the 2018 season.
For a safer, faster experience, only seat cushions (flat or foldable, with no pockets and not oversized) and the following bags ARE permitted:
- Clear Tote Bag (plastic, vinyl or PVC - no larger than 12" x 6" x 12")
- Plastic Zip Top Bag (no larger than one gallon)
- Small Clutch Purse (no larger than 4.5" x 6.5")
An exception will be made for medically necessary items or insulated diaper bags after proper inspection at Gate 1 or Gate 6.

Why is WKU implementing this policy?
Our primary concerns on game day are fan experience and fan safety. By limiting the size and style of bags carried into the stadium, WKU Athletics can improve the time spent in line waiting for bags to be checked and improve our ability to keep fans safe while they are enjoying a game in our stadium.
This is a measure that was adopted by the NFL prior to the 2013 season and the Southeastern Conference prior to the 2017 season, and nearly all of our fellow Conference USA schools have this policy.
Are seat cushions/stadium seats allowed to be carried into the stadium?
Yes! We want you to have an enjoyable experience at our games and comfort is key to that experience. Stadium seats and seat cushions will be allowed provided that they are foldable and are not oversized. We must consider the fan experience for all fans which includes those in the seats around you. Therefore, oversized chairs will not be allowed.
Chairs without pockets are preferred, and fans should expect chairs with pockets to be searched by security personnel prior to entering the stadium.
What about blankets during cold weather games?
Yes! Blankets should be tossed over your shoulder or arm as you enter through security as those can be easily screened. Blankets that are in your clear bags will also be allowed, but fans should anticipate security thoroughly screening these items.
What if I have certain items that I need to bring into the stadium for medical reasons and they won't fit in the clear bag?
Fans requiring certain medical necessities may enter the stadium through Gate 1 or Gate 6 to have their specific items cleared through security.
What about privacy for items I need to bring into the stadium but don't want everyone to see them?
We certainly understand the desire for privacy of certain personal items that need to be brought into the stadium. Small clutch purses, with or without a handle or strap and no larger than 4.5" x 6.5", are permitted into the stadium along with the clear bags. This should enable you to carry the same items you have in previous years.
Do I have to put everything I'm carrying into the clear bag?
No! We are limiting only the types of bags carried into the stadium, not the items you normally bring to a game. You can carry in your pockets or jackets: keys, makeup, feminine products, combs, phones, wallets, etc., if you would prefer to not put them in a clear bag or clutch. You can also use the clear bag or clutch to carry other items.
What about diaper bags?
Families are encouraged to pick up our free clear bags that provide plenty of room for family/child necessities. Other clear bags will be allowed for families such as a clear back packs or other clear bags that may require zippers or straps for carrying. Fans and families requiring the use of insulated diaper bags to keep formula cool should enter though Gate 1 or Gate 6 to have their specific items cleared through security.
