Dr. David Richards, MD Dr. Richards received his medical degree at the University of Texas in San Antonio. He completed his internship in general surgery and his orthopedic residency training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Richards completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Lipscomb Clinic at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee and is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and the American College of Sports Medicine. Prior to coming to Bowling Green, Dr. Richards practiced general orthopedics in Lexington, Kentucky for 6 years. |

Dr. Umar Khan, MD Dr. Khan received his medical degree from Kabir Medical College. He completed his training in Internal Medicine at his home town in Augusta GA at the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Khan completed his Sports Medicine Fellowship at the prestigious Andrews Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Center/American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham AL. Prior to coming to WKU, Dr. Khan assisted Dr. Andrews covering the Washington Redskins. He examined and treated professional athletes and high end college athletes from around the world. He was an associate team physician for the University of Alabama and West Alabama under the supervision of Dr. Lyle Cain. Dr. Khan is board certified in Internal Medicine and Sports Medicine. He is also certified as a Muskuloskeletal Sonographer and uses MSK U/S in his practice for both diagnostic purposes as well as to guide his highly specialized injections. He is a pioneer in orthobiologic (stem cell and platelet rich plasma) injections. He was recently published as being able to inject the ACL under sonographic guidance. He is currently developing an new protocol for ulnar collateral ligament injuries of the elbow using dynamic ultrasound evaluation and orthobiologic injections. Dr. Khan also takes care of general medical issues for the athletes and staff at WKU. He started as a team physician for WKU in February 2012. Dr. Khan has staff privileges at Greenview Regional Hospital, The Medical Center at Bowling Green, Logan Memorial Hospital, and the Medical Center in Scottsville. He works as an ER physician at Logan Memorial Hospital and has his Sports Medicine clinic in Bowling Green. Memberships include the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine, The American Fellowship Society of Sports Medicine and the American College of Sports Medicine. |

Cindy Hudson, PT, MS, OCS Cindy Hudson joined the WKU Athletic Training Support Staff as a Physical Therapist in August of 2009. She currently assists in the post-surgical rehabilitation of all WKU Athletes on-site at WKU's athletic training facilities in addition to her clinical responsibilities as a physical therapist at Western Kentucky Orthopedic and Neurosurgical Associates. An alumnus of WKU, Cindy earned a Master of Science degree in Physical Education from WKU in 2009 after earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Louisville in 2003. She is a licensed Physical Therapist, and earned the credential of Orthopedic Certified Specialist from the American Physical Therapy Association in 2009. Cindy is married to WKU Head Volleyball coach Travis Hudson, and the couple currently reside in Bowling Green with their two sons Tyler, and Drew. |

Dr. Craig A. Beard, MD After 24 years of devoted service as the lead team physician for WKU athletics, Dr. Beard retired from this role in December of 2011. A veteran on "the hill", he was a member of the WKU football team from 1975 - 1977 before earning his medical degree from the University of Kentucky. He returned to Bowling Green to serve as a medical consultant for his alma mater in 1987. Dr. Beard continues to practice orthopaedics at Western Kentucky Orthopaedic & Neurosurgical Associates in Bowling Green, KY since 1987. Dr. Beard received his medical degree and internship at the University of Dr. Beard has staff privileges at Greenview Regional Hospital, The Medical Center at Bowling Green and The Medical Center at Franklin. He is a member of the Kentucky Orthopedic Society, Kentucky Medical Association, Warren County Medical Society, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the Bowling Green / Warren County Chamber of Commerce. |

Dr. Phil Turner, MD Dr. Turner received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Medical School in Memphis. He completed his internship at the University of Tennessee Memorial Hospital in Knoxville, and his residency at the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Turner currently serves as an Emergency Room Physician at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield, KY. Prior to his current position at Twin Lakes, Dr. Turner practiced general medicine in Bowling Green, KY for 23 years. Dr. Turner is board certified in Advanced Pediatric, Adult, Cardiac, and Trauma Life Support and has staff privileges at Greenview Regional Hospital, and Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center. |
