2014 (r-Jr.): Newton sat out this season due to NCAA transfer rules. Before WKU: Newton spent the past three seasons at Presbyterian College and will have to sit out 2014 due to NCAA transfer rules. In 2013, he tallied 39 tackles (28 solo) and 1.5 tackles for loss. He redshirted in 2012 and played in 11 games in 2011, starting two. He finished 2011 with 16 tackles (13 solo) and forced two fumbles on the year. HS/Misc.: Newton played for John Davis at Clearwater Central Catholic HS and earned team MVP honors all four years. Newton tallied All-State and All-County as a junior and All-County and Pinellas County All Stars as a senior.
