He earned First Team Division-II-3A East/Middle Region honors as a senior. Gibson was a three-star by 247Sports with a rating score of 80, ranking 52nd nationally at his position and 90th overall in the state. He chose WKU over nine others including Air Force, Charlotte and Navy.
