2016 (r-Jr.) | 14/12: Simmons took over as one of WKU’s primary starters at the corner position, appearing in all 14 games and starting 12 games. Simmons responded with 30 tackles (22 solo) and broke up nine passes. In week one against Rice, Simmons tallied an acrobatic, bouncing interception resulting in the No. 1 play of the night on SportsCenter. Simmons had a career-high eight tackles in the Conference USA Championship game, a week after tying his previous career-high of five at Marshall. He had multiple tackles in six games and broke up a career-high three passes at Miami.
2015 (r-So.) | 14/2: Simmons factored in as one of WKU’s primary contributors at cornerback, serving as a No. 3 corner behind a pair of senior starters. Simmons appeared in all 14 games and started his first two games, against Miami (Ohio) and at Rice as starter Wonderful Terry was limited due to injury. Simmons responded with 17 total tackles (12 solo) including a season-high five against Louisiana Tech. Simmons recorded his first career interception against Miami (Ohio) - one of three that day for the Hilltoppers.
2014 (r-Fr.) | 6/0: Simmons appeared in six games this season as a reserve cornerback and on special teams. He had one tackle again Old Dominion.
2013 (Fr.): Simmons redshirted his first season on The Hill.
HS/Misc.: Simmons was named to the Palm Beach All-Star squad following his 2012 senior season at Royal Palm Beach High School. Simmons led a defensive charge that allowed just 15 points per game on average in 2012, while holding four of its nine opponents to single-digit scoring outputs. He was named Second Team All-Area for large schools by the Palm Beach Post following his senior campaign, while also earning Palm Beach County FACA District 20 All-Star honors. During his junior season of 2011, Simmons and Royal Palm Beach went 7-4, which included starting the season 7-1, averaging more than a 25-point margin of victory in those seven wins. The overall athlete also made an impact for the Royal Palm Beach track and field squad during his time in high school.
