BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Football has signed kicker Michael Smith and defensive back Alan Gbee.
Smith joins the Hilltoppers as a transfer from Florida A&M, while Gbee comes to The Hill from Moorpark College.
Smith appeared in 16 games over the 2023 and 2024 seasons for the Rattlers, mainly kicking off. He attempted 88 kickoffs for 5,310 yards – an average of 60.3 yards per attempt – with 37 touchbacks. That included 76 attempts during the 2023 season, when he averaged 59.8 yards per kickoff and had 28 touchbacks. Smith attempted and made one field goal during his time at Florida A&M – a 49-yard attempt at then-No. 12 Miami. Smith prepped at Maclay High School in Florida.
Gbee comes to WKU from Moorpark College, after stops at Coffeyville Community College and Misericordia University. He played in 10 games for Moorpark and registered 25 tackles, including one for loss, and an interception. He redshirted at Coffeyville, after appearing in four games for Misericordia with four tackles during the 2023 season. Gbee prepped at Tuscarora High School in Virginia.
The Hilltoppers will open the 2026 season at Nevada on Saturday, Sept. 5. The full 2026 WKU Football schedule can be found HERE.
