BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Women's Tennis freshmen Barbara Olvera and Virginia Madueño were named the Conference USA Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week, CUSA announced Wednesday.
"Very happy to see this award go to Barbara and Virginia," WKU Women's Tennis Head Coach Greg Davis said. "They have shown consistent improvement since the fall and we look forward to witnessing more of the same in the future."
Madueño and Olvera improved to 4-1 together this season with a pair of wins over UT Southern at the No. 2 position in last Friday's doubleheader sweep. Madueño and Olvera defeated UT Southern's Sofi Rueda and Maya Balle in the first match 6-0, and defeated Agota Juozapaviciute and Sienna Ruberto 6-0 in the second match.
Madueño and Olvera have helped WKU claim the doubles point in the last three matches – all of which the Lady Toppers won.
WKU is now 3-3 this season and 3-1 at home. The Lady Toppers are scheduled to face Lipscomb at home on Friday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. CT, before making the trip to Evansville, Indiana, to face Southern Indiana on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 3:30 p.m. CT.
