HOW IT HAPPENED
Trinity Rowe, Torri James, Enni Ahervuo, Zsofia Telegdy and Jeniffer Silva were the first five on the court for WKU. It was the first career start for Ahervuo. Jacksonville State scored the first six points of the game, four coming off of free throws. A free throw from Silva put WKU on the board at the 5:32 mark. The two teams traded baskets until a 4-0 run by WKU brought the Lady Toppers back within three with 3:06 left in the quarter. The Gamecocks scored the next four points to extend the lead back out to seven. A 3-pointer from Tatum Boettjer ended the quarter, making the score 14-10.
A layup from Telegdy to start the second quarter made it a single-possession game, but Jacksonville State responded with a three. The Lady Toppers made another bucket, but the Gamecocks came back with another 3-pointer. After going back-and-forth, Jacksonville State went on an 8-0 run to take an 11-point lead with 1:43 left in the half. Rowe went on a personal 5-0 run to bring WKU back within five. The Gamecocks made a layup just before the break to bring the score to 34-26 going into the second half. WKU was outscored 41-22 in the second half.
