DALLAS, Texas – Conference USA announced their Players of the Week for Week Four on Monday with WKU Volleyball's Izzy Van De Wiele earning Defensive Player of the Week and Callie Bauer earning Setter of the Week.
Van De Wiele earned her first CUSA Defensive Player of the Week honor after finishing the Alyssa Cavanaugh Classic with 12 blocks and 21 kills. She posted a weekend-best five blocks against Bradley and finished with three in the win over RV Indiana. Offensively, she averaged three kills a set and posted a .381 hitting percentage. In addition, Van De Wiele helped lead the Hilltoppers to an opposing hitting percentage of .141, highlighted by a weekend-low -.041 from Austin Peay.
Bauer earned her second-straight CUSA Setter of the Week honor after leading the Hilltoppers to a .306 hitting percentage. Responsible for 74% of WKU's total assists and also leading the conference in assists, Bauer finished with 91 through nine sets played for an average of 10.11 assists per set. The Michigan native finished with a season-high 42 sets in the 3-0 sweep of RV Indiana and also contributed seven digs, one kill, and one block. On the weekend, she collected 19 digs, three blocks, and two service aces.
Van De Wiele, Bauer, and the rest of the Hilltoppers head north Monday night to take on No. 3 Louisville at the KFC Yum! Center. First serve is set for 5:30 p.m. CT.
