BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Football quarterback Maverick McIvor has been named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
McIvor has now claimed the first two CUSA Offensive Player of the Week awards given out during the 2025 season. It is the sixth CUSA weekly award the Hilltoppers have received so far this season.
McIvor posted another impressive stat line in his second game to lead the Hilltoppers to a 55-6 victory over North Alabama on Saturday at Houchens-Smith Stadium. In two and a half quarters of play, McIvor threw for 305 yards and five touchdowns on 24-31-0 passing. The Hilltoppers had built a 42-6 lead by halftime, and McIvor had 275 yards and five touchdowns – the most by a CUSA quarterback in a half since Nov. 5, 2022 – on 20-25-0 passing through the first two quarters.
Through two games this season, McIvor has thrown for 706 yards and eight touchdowns on 57-82-0 passing and rushed for another score. The Hilltoppers have won both games and put up a combined 96 points – the highest point total through the first two games of a season for the program in its FBS era (since 2009), the most the program has scored in its first two games in a season since 2003 and the fourth-most points through the first two games of a season in program history.
Through Week 1, McIvor leads the nation in passing touchdowns (8), passing yards (706) and points responsible for (54); is first in CUSA and fourth nationally in points responsible for per game (27.0); is first in CUSA and eighth nationally in total offense (360.0); is first in CUSA and sixth nationally in passing yards per game (353.0); and is first in CUSA and seventh nationally in completions per game (28.5).
The Hilltoppers will hit the road for the first time this season when they head to Toledo for a 6 p.m. CT game on Saturday. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
