Paige Briggs-Romine ('23) and the Grand Rapids Rise took Kaylee Cox ('24) and the Columbus Fury to five sets and claimed victory 3-2, ending the series at 2-2 for the season.
Â
This match may have been one of the most competitive yet - on top of going to five full sets, each set was won by just a three-point margin or less. The competition lasted for 2 hours and 54 minutes, which sets a record for the longest contest in franchise history.
Â
Briggs-Romine helped lead the Rise to victory, starting in all five sets and marking the second-most kills on the team. The six-rotation outside hitter notched 17 kills (.300), 11 digs, one block, and two assists. Seven-year pro Carli Snyder proved to be another asset for the Rise, marking 18 kills (.320), 15 digs, one block, and six aces.
Â
Despite the Fury's best efforts, the Rise's offensive prowess couldn't be denied. Cox ended the night with one kill and 11 digs, tying for the fourth-most digs on the night. Her defensive efforts proved to be valuable for the Fury.
Â
With the series complete for the 2025 season, the teams will move on to face the rest of their opponents for the remainder of the season. Grand Rapids Rise looks ahead to face Vegas Thrill on April 5 in Van Andel Arena at 7 p.m. local time. Columbus Fury is set to host Indy Ignite on the same date and time. Both games will be available to stream on YouTube and Roku Channel.
