HOW IT HAPPENED
Trinity Rowe, Torri James, Mya Pratcher, Zsofia Telegdy and Jeniffer Silva were the first five on the court for WKU. It was Rowe's first game back after sustaining an injury prior to the Longwood game.
Miami jumped out to 6-0 lead behind a pair of 3-pointers. Telegdy fired back with a three of her own, but the RedHawks responded with another triple and a layup to go ahead 11-3. Telegdy cut into that lead with her second three and Silva used an and-one situation to cut that lead down to 11-9. The RedHawks made back-to-back 3-pointers to push back ahead by eight. James made a basket, but Miami went on a 5-0 run. James had an and-one of her own to make 22-14. From there, Miami outscored WKU 6-3 to take a 28-17 lead into the second quarter.
Tia Shelling came in and made a bucket to start the second quarter, but Miami rattled off a 9-0 run to go ahead 37-19. The Lady Toppers responded with an 8-3 run to cut it to 40-27. The RedHawks outscored WKU 10-2 the rest of the first half to take a 50-29 lead into halftime.
The RedHawks scored the first four points of the third quarter. Silva stopped the scoring drought for WKU at the 7:08 mark. From there, the two teams traded baskets with Miami outscoring WKU 10-9 the rest of the way to claim a 64-40 lead going into the final quarter. Miami outscored WKU 16-13 in the fourth quarter.
