BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Football quarterback Rodney Tisdale Jr. was one of eight quarterbacks recognized as a "Star of the Week," the Manning Award, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl, announced Monday.
Hilltopper fans can CLICK HERE to vote for what they think was the best performance from this past weekend. When voting closes on Wednesday at 9 a.m. CT, the top vote-getter will be announced as the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week.
Tisdale led an offense that put up 642 yards and 42 points in a 42-26 victory over Middle Tennessee on Saturday at Houchens-Smith Stadium. Tisdale was responsible for four touchdowns in the victory, with three touchdown passes and one touchdown run. He threw for 371 yards and three scores on 29-of-41 passing (71%), and completed passes to eight different players, with two different players catching scoring passes. Tisdale's touchdown run was an 8-yard score in the third quarter.
The win was WKU's seventh straight over the rival Blue Raiders – which is tied for the longest winning streak by either team in the 75-game series – and improved WKU to 8-2 overall this season and 6-1 in CUSA play.
The game marked Tisdale's third start of the season and his college career, and he now has 1,059 yards and nine touchdowns on 93-129-3 (72.2%) passing this fall, with a pair of 300-yard passing performances.
The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004 to honor the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates' bowl performances in its balloting. Since the Manning Award started recognizing Stars of the Week in 2011, 607 different quarterbacks from 138 schools have been recognized. Sixty-five players have been honored so far in 2025.
The Hilltoppers will face LSU on Saturday, Nov. 22, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Kickoff at Tiger Stadium is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. CT and the game will be televised nationally on SEC Network.
