Liapis Named to Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week

LONG BEACH, Calif. – WKU Soccer junior midfielder Georgia Liapis has been named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week. This comes following her standout performance in WKU's 4-3 win over Missouri State last Sunday.

Liapis is one of 11 players named to the team and one of four midfielders. Liapis is the only representative for Conference USA on the team. Maddie Davis was named an honorable mention for TDS last week.

On the accolade head coach Jason Neidell said "I'm so happy for Georgia. She is a great player, and she has worked really hard this past year to become a more productive player on the stat sheet. It's nice to see her being rewarded for her hard work and commitment to the process and to this team."

Liapis scored two goals in a matter of minutes taking WKU from down one to up one. The two goals marked the sixth and seventh of the season for the junior from Plainfield, Ill. Liapis also assisted in the game-winning goal on Sunday afternoon. The junior currently leads WKU in goals scored (7), shots (33), and points (16). Liapis also ranks second in Conference USA in both goals scored and points and seventh in total shots. Liapis is also in the top-75 nationally in goals scored. WKU's scoring offense ranks in the top-75 nationally and has a goal differential (+13) that ranks 61st in the nation.

WKU will be back in action on Thursday, Oct. 16 at home against UTEP for Breast Cancer Awareness Night. Kick-off from the WKU Soccer Complex is set for 7 p.m. CT.
