Hilltopper Basketball Signs ODU Transfer Leeroy Odiahi

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU men's basketball has announced the signing of Old Dominion transfer Leeroy Odiahi. A native of Tralee, Ireland, Odiahi joins the Hilltopper Basketball roster for 2024-25 after spending one season at ODU and two seasons under head coach Hank Plona at Indian Hills CC in 2021-22 and 2022-23.

"I am very happy that Leeroy decided to come to WKU," Plona said. "He and I have had much success and have won championships together, and he is someone that will help us win. Leeroy is fully committed to doing whatever is needed to help us win. He is a great teammate and continues to improve year after year. I'm excited to get the chance to coach Leeroy for one more season, and I know he'll love and appreciate being part of our Hilltopper community!"

Odiahi appeared in 24 games with nine starts for ODU in 2023-24. While at IHCC under Plona, 2022-23 saw the Ireland native grab 64 rebounds on the year with 18 blocked shots. Odiahi was named to the 2023 Spring and 2022 Fall ICCAC All-Academic Second-Team and was a member of the NJCAA Academic Team of the Year.

In 2021-22, Odiahi appeared in 23 games for IHCC as a true freshman while shooting 51.5 percent from the floor and averaging 2.2 rebounds per outing. The Ireland native also earned ICCAC All-Academic Second-Team honors for the 2021 Fall and was named to the NJCAA Academic Team of the Year.

Prior to his time at IHCC, Odiahi Attended George Harris Prep Academy in Mississauga, Ontario. Odiahi previously attended Mercy Mounthawk in his hometown of Tralee, helping lead the team to the All-Ireland National Championship, and competed at the European Championships for Team Ireland.

Odiahi is the third transfer signee to be announced by Plona for the Tops' 2024 signing class.
