BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Football's 2024 season opener at Alabama will kick off at 6 p.m. CT on Saturday, Aug. 31, at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The game will be televised on ESPN.
The Hilltoppers are 0-3 all-time against Alabama, with the last meeting coming during the 2016 season – a 38-10 Crimson Tide victory. WKU went on to win the Conference USA Championship that fall. The Tide went 12-2 last season, claimed the SEC Championship, and received a berth in the College Football Playoff.
WKU will follow the game at Alabama by welcoming Eastern Kentucky to Houchens-Smith Stadium for the home opener on Sept. 7, before opening CUSA play at Middle Tennessee on Sept. 14. WKU will then host Toledo on Sept. 21 before wrapping up nonconference play at Boston College on Sept. 28. WKU will begin its October midweek games at home against UTEP on Oct. 10, go to Sam Houston for an Oct. 16 game, and welcome CUSA newcomer Kennesaw State to Bowling Green on Oct. 30. The Hilltoppers will also have CUSA matchups at New Mexico State on Nov. 9, at home against Louisiana Tech on Nov. 16, at Liberty on Nov. 23, and at home against Jax State on Nov. 30. Game times and TV networks for those games will be released at a later date. CUSA's 20th annual Championship Game, pitting the top-two finishers during conference play, will be played on Friday, Dec. 6, on CBS Sports Network. The kickoff time for the title game will be announced at a later date.
WKU capped off an 8-5 2023 season with a 38-35 overtime victory against Old Dominion in the Famous Toastery Bowl. The game was one of eight nationally televised games the Hilltoppers played last season, including one of two on ESPN. The 2024 opener at Alabama will mark the seventh consecutive season the program has had a game televised on ESPN.
