BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Redshirt senior guard Brandon Newman has been named to the 2023-24 Conference USA Men's Basketball All-Academic Team, as announced by the league on Friday.Â
A native of Valparaiso, Indiana, Newman has started and played in all 29 games for WKU this season. Newman joined the Tops' roster as a transfer from Purdue University, where he completed a bachelor's degree in organizational leadership in spring 2023.
A member of the CUSA Commissioner's Honor Roll, Newman will earn a master's in recreation and sport administration from WKU this summer. Newman currently holds a 3.33 cumulative grade point average.
Along with the academic merit, the Indiana native is tied for a team lead in rebounds per game (5.8) and ranks second on the team in in points (10.4) and steals (1.3). Newman has helped the Hilltoppers to a 19-win season and third-place standing in CUSA play this year.
WKU will close regular-season competition facing Liberty on Saturday, March 9 before preparing to open CUSA tournament play next week.
