Skidmore Earns Second Straight Freshman of the Week, Cox Earns Offensive Player of the Week

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- After sweeping UTEP in the Lone Star State, WKU Volleyball earned two more accolades as CUSA announced its Players of the Week on Monday. Senior outside hitter Kaylee Cox earned Offensive Player of the Week award while freshman pin hitter Alivia Skidmore earned Freshman of the Week honors.

This week's awards mark the second straight Freshman of the Week award for Skidmore while both nods are the third award for each player so far this season.

Cox earned her third Player of the Week award after a 2-0 sweep of UTEP that included 39 kills and a .258 [39-15-93] hitting percentage, averaging 4.33 kills per set. Her 39 kills were also the most amount of kills she's collected in a CUSA series so far. Both matches also featured double doubles with match one posting 16 kills and 13 digs and match two posting 23 kills and 12 digs.

Skidmore continued her outstanding freshman campaign with 27 kills on the weekend and a .277 [27-9-65] hitting clip while averaging 3.00 kills per set. She also recorded one service ace, one block, and six digs The Kentucky native is also currently ranked second on the team in kills at 226. Newer to the serving staff is Skidmore who also grabbed a service ace over the weekend.

With their combined efforts, WKU Volleyball defeated the only other undefeated team in the conference with a 3-1 and 3-2 win over UTEP. The two wins puts the Hilltoppers atop the conference standings with three more CUSA series on the horizon.

WKU Volleyball returns home this weekend to host New Mexico State on Friday and Saturday. First serve on Friday is set for 6 p.m. at E. A. Diddle Arena.
