BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — A total of 50 WKU student-athletes are set to have their degrees conferred from Western Kentucky University this spring and summer. Forty-five will be graduating this week and five more will earn their degrees over the summer.
The spring graduates have a cumulative grade point average of 3.40, while the summer graduates have a 3.58 GPA, for a combined GPA of 3.49. That mark is the highest graduating GPA since at least 2010.
Seven of the 50 student-athletes will be receiving their master's degrees, while the others will be earning their bachelor's degrees or receiving a certificate of completion in a new area.
Degrees obtained include exercise science, sport management, business administration, psychology, marketing, biology, manufacturing engineering technology, criminology, history, international affairs, economics, kinesiology, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, health sciences, nursing, and elementary education among others.
Over the 2022-23 academic year, 78 student-athletes have earned their degrees from the institution, including 28 graduates last fall.
Commencement will be held on Thursday, May 4 at Houchens Industries - L.T. Smith Stadium while college recognition ceremonies will be held on Friday, May 5 in E.A. Diddle Arena.
