BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – With a throw of 55.85m, Ajla Basic finished third in the women's hammer throw at the Indiana Invitational Friday to lead the way for WKU Track & Field.
Basic was joined in the top-10 of the event by fellow Hilltopper Tayelor Thrasher Walker, who tossed the hammer a distance of 50.22m.
On the men's side of the hammer throw, Brett Brannon finished fifth overall by hitting a mark of 56.32m. Luke Stegman and John Elam also competed in the event and finished 15th and 16th, respectively.
Other Hilltopper highlights on the day included the men's 200 where sprinter Demetrius Rolle added a top-10 result by claiming eighth with a time of 22.20. Zackery Martinez followed that performance by earning a fifth-place result in the men's 400m hurdles, clocking in at 53.33.
Grace Turner and Devon Montgomery each competed in the men's and women's pole vault, respectively, both narrowly missing out on top-10 results. Turner cleared a height of 3.89m to finish 11th while Montgomery hit the mark of 4.59m to finish 12th overall in the men's division.
