CINCINNATI, Ohio. — WKU Tennis continued its 2023 season on Saturday losing to Cincinnati, 6-1, in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Lady Toppers move to 7-6, while the Bearcats improve to 4-7.
"I was really happy with how we competed today against a tough Cincinnati team," said head coach Greg Davis. "Great win for Rachel (Hermanova) and Paola (Cortez) played a tremendous match at the No. 1 spot in singles."
The Lady Toppers dropped the doubles point for the second straight match, losing on courts two and three, with the court one match going unfinished.
Singles play saw three sets using a deciding tiebreaker and two matches going all three sets with the Bearcats winning five of six matches making the final tally, 6-1. Rachel Hermanova claimed the only point for WKU in the match, winning in straight sets 7-6 (3), 6-1 on court three. The sophomore is the first Hilltopper to reach double digit singles wins on the season, improving to 10-3. She moves within one win of fifth place on the all-time program singles wins list.
WKU Tennis will continue play next weekend when they visit Saint Louis on Saturday, March 4 and SIU Edwardsville on Sunday March 5. Saturday's match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m., while Sunday's is scheduled for 9 a.m.
