Laval, Quebec, Canada – WKU men's basketball wrapped competition at the Northern Classic with a 77-67 loss facing UNC Asheville on Sunday at Place Bell Arena in Laval, Quebec. Jalen Jackson finished as the team's leading scorer with a 14-point performance in the fifth-year's first game starting for the Hilltoppers.Â

A transfer from Texas A&M Corpus-Christi, Jackson missed time due to an injury to open the season with the Tops. After playing limited minutes in each of the previous three outings for WKU, Jackson entered the team's starting lineup on Sunday and provided a spark for the Tops on both ends of the court.

Rodney Howard and Tyrone Marshall Jr. each accounted for 12 points on Sunday, and Don McHenry charted a fifth consecutive double-digit scoring total for the Hilltoppers with 10 points.

Howard grabbed six rebounds and went 6-of-6 from the field, while Marshall Jr. finished with five boards and two steals. Babacar Faye totaled a team-best seven rebounds and finished with eight points.Â

Quebec native Enoch Kalambay recorded five rebounds and four points.Â

WKU led 38-31 entering the half after charting 60.0% (15-of-25) from the field before the break. The teams opened second-half play and traded leads up until the five-minute mark in regulation.Â

The Bulldogs gained control of momentum late and reeled off 15 points in the final five minutes of play while limiting the Tops to just six points. UNCA would ultimately outscore WKU, 46-29, in the second half and secure the win over WKU.

The Tops fall to 4-3 on the year with the loss.

Men's basketball returns home next week and will host Campbellsville on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at E.A. Diddle Arena in Bowling Green, Ky. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. CT with ESPN+ set to broadcast.
