BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Four members of the WKU Soccer team have been named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team, the league announced on Friday. Katie Erwin and Annah Hopkins were named to the First Team while Maddie Davis and Lily Rummo earned Second Team honors.
All four Lady Toppers have maintained a 4.00 grade point average.
Erwin has scored a team-leading six goals on the season. That includes three game-winners, which ranks as the second most in CUSA and 58th most in the nation. Her four goals in league play are the second most in the conference and her seven points are also second. Erwin has been named CUSA Offensive Player of the Week twice this season. It is Erwin's third CUSA All-Academic honor after being named to the First Team in 2021 and the Second Team in 2020.
The Louisville, Kentucky native is currently pursuing a master's degree in business administration. Erwin previously earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering at WKU.
Hopkins has played an integral role in the WKU defense that has shut out four of seven conference opponents played and is averaging just .285 goals against in CUSA play. She has led the WKU defense to a 56.2 shutout percentage on the season which is the 28th best percentage in the country. She and the defense also has a .812 goals against average for the season, which is 52nd in the nation.
The Evansville, Indiana native is pursuing a bachelor's degree in biology.
Davis has eight clean sheets on the season, including four in CUSA play. Her eight shutouts are the second most in CUSA and the 23rd most in the country. Her 0.867 goals against average for the season is third in the league. Her 0.429 goals against average in CUSA play is the top mark in the league. Also in conference play, Davis has the most saves and is tied for the most shutouts.
The Waterloo, Illinois native is pursuing a bachelor's degree in architectural science.
This is the second CUSA All-Academic honor for Rummo after being named to the second team last season. Like Hopkins, Rummo has also played an integral part of the WKU backline that has notched nine shutouts this season.
The Franklin, Tennessee native is pursuing a master's degree in education. Rummo previously earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from WKU.
