Barton Leads WKU on First Day of Lenny Lyles Invite

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Kaison Barton turned in WKU Track & Field's lone top-10 performance of the day Friday as the Hilltoppers faced a tough field on day one of the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational at the University of Louisville.

Barton competed in the men's weight throw where he finished eighth with a distance of 18.56m. Brett Brannon and John Elam joined Barton in the event, finishing 13th and 27th, respectively. On the women's side on the weight throw, Ajla Basic narrowly missed a top-10 performance herself when she claimed 13th with a distance of 18.22.

Demetrius Rolle provided WKU's best running performance of day one when he finished 11th in the men's 60M with a time of 6.78. Gabriel Dozier finished behind him with a time of 7.10, and Gabriel Dozier finished 23rd overall in the 60M hurdles.

The Hilltoppers will resume competition Saturday morning at 10 a.m. CT when they wrap up the final day of the Lenny Lyles Invitation. A recap of Saturday's meet will be posted to WKUSports.com at the conclusion of the scheduled events.
