BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Athletics' Hilltopper CLIMB Student-Athlete Development program announced Wednesday two career development opportunities for student-athletes to connect and learn from local businesses.
"We are excited to launch these two initiatives which will open doors to our student-athletes and provide them with new opportunities in the career development and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) space," said Director of Student-Athlete Career Development Collin Stoecker. "Our goal is to prepare our student-athletes to be professionals today so they might be able to capitalize on their platform to earn NIL deals, internships and jobs in the future. Thank you to all of the companies involved for their commitment to our student-athletes' growth and we look forward to welcoming more members of our community into our programming as we encourage all businesses to hire a Hilltopper!"
Student-Athlete Career Fair
WKU Athletics will host its inaugural Student-Athlete Career Fair on March 1st from 6-8 p.m. in the Harbaugh Club on WKU's campus.
The inaugural fair is already set to feature 25 businesses interested in providing internship, career and NIL opportunities to Hilltopper student-athletes.
Businesses who are interested in hosting a table at the career fair can find more information and register here. WKU student-athletes can sign up for the career fair here and will receive a personalized NIL business card with registration prior to Wednesday, February 8.
Overtime Program
The Overtime Program, set to launch this summer, provides student-athletes, who do not have a traditional college summer off, the opportunity to capture work experience in any form or fashion.
The program is designed to pair student-athletes with businesses in their desired field of work or study. The student-athlete and business will work together to determine an experience that best fits the student-athlete's schedule and business' need.
The experience can look like anything from a one-day job shadow to a short-term internship, an informational interview to an offsite project.
Businesses who are interested in participating in the overtime program can sign up here. To request more information on the program, please email collin.stoecker@wku.edu or audrey.griffin537@topper.wku.edu.
All WKU student-athletes who would like to participate in the overtime program can sign up here.
